LosslessCut

I needed a tool for quickly trimming recorded videos, so I built my first Electron app, check it out:

It is a cross platform simple video editor for lossless trimming / cutting of videos using ffmpeg and Electron. Great for rough processing of large video files taken from a video camera, drone, etc. Lets you quickly get rid of the useless parts. It doesn’t do any decoding / encoding and is therefore very fast and has no quality loss. Also allows for taking JPEG snapshots of the video at the selected time.

  1. Hi Mikael,

I like seeing this effort of using FFMPEG and Electron. The product I’m involved with is considering an Electron-based app which also deals with video content. I currently am the head developer and founder of rgbnotes.com. We deal with media review for the digital art industry.

If this is something you’re interested in doing more of, I’d love to chat. If not, and you care to share any of your experiences with this project, I’d love to hear it.

Either way, I’d love to hear more about what you do and get to know you 🙂

  2. Hi Mikael, I have downloaded your program LosslessCut from github, exactly the version Darwin for 64 bits, but where is the executable file for this program? It doesn’t appear in any folder. I downloaded with Firefox. Thanks

Hi. Inside LosslessCut-darwin-x64.zip, it’s called LosslessCut.app, just double click it. What do you see inside the folder? Also please file an issue on github, it’s easier to follow there.

      • Inside LosslesCut.ap appears a new folder -Contents- and inside it there are the three following folders:
        Frameworks
        MacOS
        Resources

        and the following files:
        info.plist
        pkgInfo

In anyone of them is the executable file.
        Thanks for your replay

        • Solved. I have just downloaded the 32 & 64 bits file, et voilá, here is the executable…., but, ohhhh, LosslessCut is not avalaible for .ts and .mpg formats… It says that I have to reencode by ffmpg… ufff, very complicated.
          Thanks, however, for your work.
